ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the changes of the shear wave velocities on thyroid tissues in patients with Graves disease(GD) and its correlation with thyrotropin (TSH).Methods Forty GD patients and 30 health adults who underwent an ultrasound-based acoustic radiation force impulse (ARFI) technique, the shear wave velocity of thyroid tissues was obtained using virtual touch tissue quantification (VTQ) of ARFI technique, and the changes of the shear wave velocities on thyroid tissues with GD patients and its correlation with the serum TSH level were analyzed. Results The shear wave velocities of thyroid tissues in patients with GD was lower than that of normal, thas were significant difference( P <0.05),but there were no significant differences among different locations in GD patients( P >0.05).The shear wave velocities of thyroid tissues were correlated with the serum TSH level in patients with GD,the correlation coefficient was 0.707.Conclusions The shear wave velocity may be considered as a helpful index in diagnosing GD and indirectly reflect the serum TSH level, provide some reference for therapy of the GD.

ABSTRACT

Objective To study the change of early carotid elasticity in perimenopausal women treated by hormone replacement therapy using e-tracking technique. Methods A total of 82 perimenopausal women with lower level of estradiol were randomly divided into two groups:41 cases in the treatment group and 41cases in the control group. Postmenopausal women in the treatment group were treated with Climnen. Before and 6 months after estrogen therapy,e-tracking technique was used to evaluate the carotid elastic modulus, such as the stiffness parameters (β), pressure-strain elastic modulus ( Ep), arterial compliances (AC), pulse wave conducting velocity (PWVβ) and augment index(AI). Results Compared with the normal group, datas of Ep,β,PWVβ and AI were significantly lower in treated group, while AC was obviously higher ( P <0.01). Conclusions E-tracking technique is a quick, simple and high accurate evaluating method for the change of carotid elasticity in perimenopausal women.

ABSTRACT

Objective To evaluate clinical value of double contrast-enhanced ultrasonography(DCUS)in diagnosing gastric stromal tumors(GST). Methods The medical records of 26 patients with a histological diagnosis of GST were retrospectively reviewed. The correlation between DCUS features and pathological findings of the lesions was compared. Results Total 26 cases of GST were divided into low risk group( 16 cases) and high risk group (10 cases). The size, contour, liquefactive necrosis and enhancement distribution of lesions were markedly correlated with the pathobiologic behaviour of the tumor ( P <0.05). There was no significant difference in border and metastasis of lesions between two groups( P >0.05). It was shown that DCUS supplied statistically significant improvement in the localization diagnosis and detection of liquefactive necrosis versus oral contrast-enhanced ultrasonography ( P < 0.05 ). Conclusions DCUS is considered as a valuable tool in diagnosing location as well as pathobiological behaviour of GST. It can provide the guidance and reference comments for treatment algorithms.
